Test for coronavirus in Fort Worth, TX

There are two types of diagnostic tests used to test for coronavirus at our urgent care/emergency room in Fort Worth, TX. Antibody tests are conducted via our urgent care, and active virus testing is considered an ER visit.

  1. Viral testing: The viral test detects an existing infection. We use nasal swab testing to collect a sample from the back of your nose and upper throat. This test is best for patients who may be currently infected and might be contagious with the virus. The virus can be detected 2 – 3 days after exposure. Most of our patients receive their results in 3 – 4 days. We will call you with a report, so you won’t have to come back to our facility. We are also offering rapid testing for those currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, with results in as little as one hour. This test will be classified as an ER visit.

  2. Antibody testing: The antibody testing determines if you previously had coronavirus. Our staff will take your blood to look for immunoglobulin M (iGm) and immunoglobulin G (igG) antibodies. The presence of these can tell us if you have fought off coronavirus and if you are a carrier of COVID-19. However, this testing can’t detect antibodies until at least 10 days after a patient has been exposed to COVID-19. You can expect to receive your results within 2 – 4 days. Most major insurance providers cover this test for free. This test is conducted through our urgent care.

At iCare ER and Urgent Care, we offer coronavirus testing to those who have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 and haven’t been able to be tested or who have been exposed to someone with the virus. We highly suggest all of our patients who receive this testing self-quarantine until they receive their test results.

We also offer corporate on-site coronavirus testing, which can give local businesses the peace of mind needed to re-open safely.
