Identifying the Symptoms of Coronavirus

Our ER and Urgent Care in Fort Worth, TX offers quality healthcare with some of the best trained doctors you could ask for. At iCare ER & Urgent Care, we are able to treat patients with specialized ER doctors, but they don’t always have to pay the price of a typical hospital emergency room.

If the patient visits our ER & Urgent Care facility with a minor sickness or injury, the examiner may categorize and bill this visit as urgent care treatment as long as it is during the normal urgent care hours. This helps eliminate long wait times at traditional hospital emergency rooms and could help lower the bill depending on the circumstance.

During the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, we are offering COVID-19 testing. Our board-certified doctors work hard to maintain our facility and to ensure the best possible cleanliness. We follow all CDC guidelines. This keeps both our patients and our staff safe and healthy.

Types of COVID-19 testing in Fort Worth, TX

There are two diagnostic tests used for coronavirus testing at iCare ER & Urgent Care in Fort Worth, TX:

  1. On-site Biofire Rapid PCR Testing (for symptomatic cases)
  2. 2-3 Day Turnaround PCR Lab Testing (for symptomatic and asymptomatic cases)
  3. Antibody Test for Covid-19 (if you contracted Covid-19 in the past)

What is the PCR Covid Test?

The PCR test looks for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It is used to detect an existing infection. A nasal swab is used to collect a sample from the back of your nose to determine if there is an active infection. This test is best for those who may be currently infected and contagious with the virus. The virus can be detected about 2 – 3 days after exposure. Depending on the situation, some patients may be able to wait for their results; others may wait a day or two if the test needs to be sent to a lab. In this instance, our staff will call you with a report, so you won’t have to come back to our facility.

What is the Antibody Covid Test?

Antibody tests look for antibodies in your blood. This may tell you if you had an infection with the virus in the past. Antibodies are proteins that help fight infections to prevent contracting the virus again in the future. Our staff is able to test for Covid-19 antibodies to help you determine if these proteins are currently in your blood.
